Having a Flash website, is it good or bad?

Flash Web Design

Flash web pages draw special attention for its spectacular, aesthetic beauty and the composition of the screen. When some companies looking for a web developer, but not know very well what this means of selling online immediately recognize that a flash media well done and intuitive page is a great hoot.
However, someone should tell them the reality. Flash is bad for SEO SEO for various reasons. And that is perhaps one of the reasons why its use is declining and many companies prefer to opt for simpler but effective designs.
In this article we show some disadvantages of having a website in Flash , whether for its aesthetics and appearance can be very attractive to the user.

Why Flash and SEO do not get along

Before continuing, it is important to know aq HAT we refer to a page in Flash . We talk about those sites that have been developed with a design program called Adobe Flash Premier, often used to create advertising banners and other interactive material and animation. Strictly speaking, Flash is just the name of the program, which uses the programming language ActionScript .
Although graphically it provides very elegant creations for multimedia pages, there are several reasons why it is not convenient for a website that wants to sell products or services.
  • The main problem is its difficult indexing . Although Adobe has worked in this direction so that Google and Yahoo robots can crawl, it is still difficult to index them. The pages made with this program have more difficulties to position themselves than a web made in HTML and CSS.
  • Another difficulty is the lack of pages. Unlike HTML websites, where we have different sections separated by pages, in Flash we have, above all, animation and dynamic content within a page. That makes almost always a low volume of indexed pages.
  • Another problem is the lack of textual content. Not all the text we see will actually be text. And generally, the image is prioritized over text content, highly important to appear well placed in search engines.
  • Finally, it should be noted that, unlike open source languages, Flash is a licensed software for commercial use, which requires the purchase of the program in order to create a web page.
We do not mean that we have to banish Flash from web pages. It can be used as a complement to a website to make banners, sliders and advertising modules of different types. But it is not convenient to create a webpage entirely in Flash and then pretend to position it well.
The new advances in web design are proving that the thing today goes through other paths: pages with good designs (for the laptop, the smartphone, the tablet), but at the same time are functional and friendly to Google.
Do you have a website made in Flash and you wonder why the thing does not work? What other difficulties do you find Flash in the design and creation of web pages?
